The kids need to understand the author's purpose for writing a particular passage. This is a great little video to play anytime you are discussing the purpose behind an author's writing.
This is a great video on teaching author's puropse! I am going to show this video to my students! A teacher can stand in front of students all day and say these same exact words that are in this video and some of them still may not get the concept, but if the teacher shows this video, the lighbulb will probably go off. You know why? Simply because of the video with the words in a song. Believe it or not, this video really got my attention and I know the skill, so I feel it will definetly get the point across to students. Most all students love music, so they will began to sing the words to the song because they like the beat and actually be learning why authors write at the same time!Great video!
